the gift shop
August 2009 - April 2010

The Gift Shop was a series of projects initiated and developed by Seattle artist Matthew Offenbacher which turned the Henry Art Gallery’s abandoned museum store into an autonomous, artist-powered, alternative exhibition space. Goals included: involving a diverse and interesting group of artists; developing means and methods which acknowledge the contingent nature of this particular site; generating new understandings of what an exhibition can be; and enjoying the pleasure and energy generated by working together.

Hey everyone,

I shit you not. Last night when I got home, a cat followed me into my house and stuck around for most of the night.  Obviously, I’m channelling cats right now (being the only one without a pet). The cat just made itself at home, inside my home and Mike and I couldn’t do anything about it. AND she looked exactly like my family cat that passed away this past xmas.

The cat did end up going home. We were going to take her home if she was still at our place in the morning. Anyways, just a fun coincidental event.

check out the shots of “Lucy the cat” in my bedroom and living room.

cheers, jenn
